Starting off........2012!

Happy New Year! May God's joy and peace be with you in this great new year!

In the past couple of weeks we have spent a lot of time trying to wind down from the holidays. The weather has been strange, but WONDERFUL and I am so grateful for the 45-65 temperatures we've had. It is so nice to be able to play outside instead of having to tell Brenton he will not be able to play with his new baseball bat, ball and glove from Santa until Spring! The boys have been to the zoo a couple of times and have had a few picnic lunches-- the fresh air is serving us all well. I've kept the windows open several days...we've definitely been taking advantage of what we've been blessed with.

I've had a lot to do in the house, too, though. It always seems like "spring cleaning" after Christmas-- trying to find places in the house to put the new toys, clothes, etc. I'm sure you've all experienced this. I ended up going through both of the boys' rooms and all of the stuff we have in storage (I've kept all clothes since Brenton was born!) and took a full load to Kid to Kid and have another box for our nephew. Kid to Kid called today and I have a bag of stuff to pick up...and they weren't actually buying baby clothes at the time...so it looks like I'll be planning a garage sale in the spring! We are planning to sell our pack and play and a couple of other larger baby items if anyone is interested.

Well...guess what-- I have been reading again! ha! I know what you're thinking...something about this just doesn't sound right. My friends and co-workers are to blame; I am now on my second book series in the past year or two. This probably doesn't sound like much to most of you, but I [used to] hate reading!! I didn't even read much through school...even grad school (sorry Dr. Robertson if you're reading this!). :) I am currently reading "The Hunger Games" series and enjoying it. I really didn't think it was something I would get into because of the actual content of the "games" themselves, but the story is riveting. I do feel a little bit like I've jumped on the band-wagon, but since I'm not a pro at this reading for fun thing-- I'm taking recommendations and this is what was brought to me.

Anyway, we're looking forward to the next couple of months. We really don't have many upcoming events so we're taking advantage of the "down time" and taking in most of the Wichita Wings games and spending time with friends and family. We are counting down to March 7, though-- Travis and I are going to MIAMI! It will be our first vacation for just the two of us since the spring of 2007 when I was pregnant with Brenton. You can't do much on vacation when you're pregnant...so really our last vacation was the year we got married. We're going to visit my sister and brother in law and will be there for both her 30th birthday and our 6 year wedding anniversary. I haven't started planning it much yet, but we are thinking of going to the BAHAMAS for part of the trip...I CANNOT WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! To say the least-- the normal "New Year's Resolutions" of losing weight are in full swing around here...haha.

We hope you and yours are all doing well and hope to catch up with you all soon! Love from the Wells!
