Pants!

I just have to tell you this really cute thing Brenton did this morning....

I was getting him ready for church (we're about to leave now) and I dressed him in new clothes he got for his birthday: khaki pants and a green and blue striped polo shirt. After I got him dressed I stood him down on the floor and you should have seen his reaction! He looked down at his feet and legs with the funniest face and slowly tried to lift his feet to walk....and then it dawned on me! He has not worn pants (as opposed to shorts) for a long time- in fact, not at all since he started walking! He thought the pants were pretty strange....but it only lasted about 2 seconds and then he was running around again like normal! :)

All picture post- keep scrolling down!!

So....that's our big-one-year-old in a nutshell! The party was at my sister's house, he loved his cake-- every piece of it! Someone gave him a piece of chocolate and a sucker and a juicebox when I wasn't looking! Brenton loves his new toys- check out the harmonica in his pocket! The radio flyer red race car is what Travis and I got him for his birthday- he has already figured out how to stand up in it! Brenton has picked up both swimming (the random guy in the picture holding him is his swim instructor) and golf! Oh- and check him out lifting those 1 lb. weights!! Whew.....isn't he cute!! :)

1st Birthday!

Brenton is now over 1 year old and we had a blast for his birthday! I have a bunch more pictures to upload still, but overall we had lots of people, lots of cake, lots of other sugar, lots of presents and special things, and LOTS of fun!

Brenton is about 25 pounds and 31 inches and is getting smarter all the time. He can now shake his head "yes" and does it very inappropriately! :) By inappropriately, I mean we will say something like "Brenton, you get down from there- mommy said" and he will grin from ear-to-ear and shake his head "yes!"!!!!! It is very cute- hopefully he will realize he can't just get away with things because he is cute at some point in his life!

Let's see....he can also say "mo" (more) now, and "ah" (all gone/all done), and he chatters lots of other not-understandable gibberish. I don't think I've updated his words in a while....so these added with the old ones make a total of about 15 probably. He got lots of new toys for his birthday that he is figuring out like blocks, a basketball goal, toy tools, and many more and he likes to see how things work by inspecting them, taking them apart, and NOT putting them back together!! We took swimming lessons recently too- by we I mean me and Brenton- he loves, loves, loves the water still, but has not exactly realized that he is going to have to learn to move his arms and kick to propel himself- he really enjoys being held and moved around- not so much doing it himself happening yet!

The newest not-so-fun discovery is that he has found me in the shower a few days. Yes....NOT FUN. He pulls the shower curtain open so fast and sticks his head in.....he gets wet....the floor gets wet....and the only way to prevent it is to block him from the hallway so that is what I have resorted to.

Travis is still working for Coleman and is really enjoying it. He probably won't be working for Red Lobster for much longer- we've had about enough of that place to last us a lifetime! He also took pictures at a wedding of a couple that we know a couple of weeks ago and not only did he do a great job, but we did it together and really enjoyed working together again. We also spent the most time together without Brenton that we have in a full year (at least)-- and it was wonderful!!! If you are interested in seeing some of Travis' work I would highly suggest navigating yourself to the Coleman website:http://www.coleman.com/coleman/home.asp The small picture towards the bottom on the right of the girl with the "Road Trip Grill LXE" Travis photoshopped, as well as if you click on "tailgating" from the "categories" menu you will see a picture in the center that Travis did basically all of (it says "Grill Hard. Play Hard."!! It is so awesome to actually see his work!! I guess you might be wondering what he did to those pictures.....there are lots of things, actually....sometimes it is correcting something on a person, sometimes it is removing labels from clothing that they don't have copyrights on (the blue jerseys were actually Dallas Cowboy jerseys), making the food on the grills look fresh. I hope that all makes sense.....I seem to be getting distracted often by a certain little boy and keep forgetting what I have already written....sorry the grammar might get a little out of control! Anyway- he starts back at Friends next Thursday for his last semester of college!! Yay for graduation in December!! We are counting down the days!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What about me....??....I am still enjoying working at the bank. I was promoted at 90 days and given a nice little raise (usually promotions do not happen until at least 6 months- so this was both unexpected and a nice way of being recognized for good work). I've spent a lot of the last several weeks preparing for little man's birthday and now am looking forward to our upcoming trip to Tulsa to see my family.

For those of you who don't already know- Travis' truck got totaled about 2 weeks ago in the WSU parking lot. We have been waiting on the other insurance company and should be receiving a check this week (FYI-there is only one business day left in this week- so I'm not exactly holding my breath!).

We'd love to hear from all of you so send us an email at t.m.wells06@gmail.com! Also, please send us the email addresses of any family/friend connections you have that I might not- I would love to continue updating my address book!

Now....for the pictures!

Brenton's first haircut.....and first sucker! :)

......after the sucker was gone........

Brenton- our pride and joy :)- at 1 year!

SO FUN!

The rest of the actual party pictures are yet to come! Check back again!

oops!

I keep forgetting to post! And, the last two or three times I have posted I have tried to post video and it won't work. If anybody has any ideas...let me know!

Brenton weighed 23 pounds 6 1/4 oz at his 11 month weigh-and-measure and had grown a couple of inches to about 30 1/2-almost 31 inches. This is amazing to me because at birth he was only 19 inches....so he has grown almost a foot!!

We are getting SO excited for his FIRST BIRTHDAY! I have been working on arrangements and Travis and I made a trip to Toys R Us last weekend to see if we could "narrow down" the list of things we each really want to get for our little figure-it-out man. Going to Toys R Us only made our lists longer, of course, so we'll have to work on that one again! :) Neither Travis or I had been to Toys R Us in....probably 3 years so we had a blast- up and down every aisle- and "testing" things out!!

In that paragraph I called Brenton our little figure-it-out man....and that is so true of the stage that he is in right now. His little personality- excuse me, BIG personality- is to figure EVERYTHING out and to DO IT HIMSELF! The other night he spent probably ten minutes inserting his toy through one side of a small opening, and pulling it out the other. Every time he would look back to the other side to see that the toy was there, and the proceed to the other side to see that it was on the other side, too (I don't know if this makes sense in writing). He has also discovered how pulling something works and so we have rigged a variety of things he can pull around the house. Dog leashes work great for this!-- we just hook something onto the end that is supposed to be for the dog's collar, and then he grabs it and spends lots of time moving away from and closer to the object and moving his arms to get the toy to do what he wants! He is like a little explorer every day! And I just wish I could see the thought processes that were happening in his smart, growing brain!!!!

This weekend coming up we are really excited that my family will be in town for a baby shower we're having for our good friend, Araceli. We only get to see them about once a month and I miss them a lot. I am also going to be having a wonderful time Saturday getting a 30 minute massage and a pedicure- thank you Travis and Michelle!!!!!

Well...gotta run help with breakfast! I am running behind on uploading pictures (as usual)....so I will get on that soon!

Quick notes...

We are having so much fun with our little toddler! I think we can use that term now since he's toddlin' around. :) He has even started trying to run-- it is so funny! He gets his head and body leaning forward and ends up falling because he has gotten ahead of himself, and he just picks back up and keeps on movin'!

Brenton is also very interested in fans, electrical cords, and anything else that he is not supposed to have. On a more positive note, though, he is also very interested in helping clean! Brenton can spot a broom or sweeper a mile away and demands to use it! I guess I have trained him well! Jk....but seriously- vacuums, sweepers, brooms, swiffers, you name it- he's on it!

Travis and I got our membership to the Y this past weekend and, yes, I have already used it! Saturday we went to the outdoor pool and Brenton had a blast. But let me just tell you- it is not easy to entertain a busy little bee that wants to just walk wherever he wants IN the water-- he does not understand the depth of the water or the slippery-ness (like my word?!) of the bottom of the pool-- but he LOVES the water and did not seem to mind his several face plants into the water. He just blows it all out of his face, splashes around, and keeps on going!! We got a sno-cone while we were there, too, and that was pretty much amazing!

I can't remember what I have posted on here and what I haven't so I just thought I would mention that we have had a great time with all the family that has been in town for Grandma and Grandpa Hinkle's 50th wedding anniversary, and for Grandpa Bob's birthday- and my little sisters who stayed in town last week and spent some time with their favorite nephew! And we are MORE THAN excited that Aunt Michelle and Uncle Jason live in Wichita now! They are right out by our friends Tom and Mira....so maybe we will expand our house hunting horizons that way! :) Speaking of Tom and Mira- we love hanging out with them! Mira and I walked at the Y last night, and we ended up in the parking lot until....well, late....and for that I am thankful. What would we do without amazing friends who are so faithful in the Lord that they truly lift us up anytime we are around??! We have been blessed with wonderful friends- whether we hang out with them 24/7 or not- we have some great relationships with some great people. I hope you all know how important it is to take the time to really, really connect with people-- that's the stuff life is made of. After all, we are to follow Christ's example, right?

Yay!!!

I meant to post before now, but we have been SO busy lately-- family in town, parties, the whole shebang!

BRENTON IS WALKING!!!!

He took his first few steps in May and has been gaining the courage and balance to let go since then and really started moving last week! It was perfect timing, too, because we had tons of family in town- including my parents- and they all got to share in our excitement! Today he started moving really fast, too-- I think he has figured out his own abilities and he now does a sort of half-run that is SO, SO cute!! I tried to post a video, but the file was too big so I'll have to try and get a short clip to put on here for you all to see!

Btw...because of our busy-ness this is the first month that I did not get Brenton weighed and measured right at the 10 month mark, so I will get on that ASAP (hopefully tomorrow). I am guessing he is about 24 pounds, though, and I find myself putting him down or handing him off whenever we are standing still for very long! He is so wiggly, too!

That's all for now!

Oh wait! Brenton also saw his first airplane yesterday!! I mean- he saw it in the sky on his own and followed it as it flew by!! It was so cute!! Now I can say "where's the airplane?" and he looks straight up! And, he can say dog and woof woof! Oh my gosh- it's been a while since I posted- he is also cutting 3 more teeth! (finally) :)

This week...

Brenton is starting to say "hiiiiii" very clearly now- it is so cute! And his wave has evolved into a rear facing wave that looks more like "come here" than "byebye". :) He went swimming this weekend- I bought him a little pool- and he loved it! Splash, splash, splash- just like in the bathtub! This week is going to be pretty full as daddy has softball and soccer as usual, and then we also are going to be helping Aunt Michelle and Uncle Jason move into their new house- which is much closer to us!! YAY!

Here are some pics until I have more time....

If you can tell-this was at Brenton's 9 month dr. appt.....he really likes that paper they put on the exam tables!

This was at our friends Heather and Josh's wedding- somebody busted out some balloons and started making balloon animals! It was kind of funny- Brenton loves balloons!

We got to see Bill and Ruth while we were in Topeka!

That's all I've got right now....more later!!
